The Cegep du Vieux Montreal was built in two phases, the first phase being its sports pavilion (or block "C") in 1974 and the second being the academic block (block "A") in 1976. Ventilation systems of block "C" therefore date from the first phase of construction. These three main ventilation systems, nos. 2, 3 and 4 and these five related systems, nos. 3E1, 3E2, 3R1, 3R1 and 4E are installed in the mechanical room located on the 6th floor . All the ventilation systems date from the construction of the building; the systems therefore have more than 40 years of service. A dilapidation study, carried out in 2019, confirms that these systems, as well as their auxiliary power supply equipment, have exceeded their useful life and show signs of advanced deterioration that could put their operation at risk in the short/medium term. The first phase of the project, i.e. the replacement of ventilation system no.4 which supplies the swimming pool, was carried out in the summer of 2021. The second phase of the project, i.e. the replacement of ventilation system no.2 which supplies the offices , classes and sports facilities, was carried out in the summer of 2022. The replacement of the ventilation system no.3 and the five related systems which serve the quadruple gymnasium, the changing rooms and the locker room, therefore consists of the third and last phase of the Block C ventilation system replacement project. Work can begin as early as May 6, 2024. The start-up of all ventilation systems must be completed on or before August 23, 2024. This date must be respected and no delay will be accepted since the school session begins on August 26. 2024. Late penalties will apply for ventilation system no.3. The work must be completed and accepted without reservation, including the demobilization of the contractor by September 29, 2024.
