Project Description: Project consists of construction of a new Grit Removal System at the Springfield Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (SRWTF), consisting of four (4) mechanically induced vortex units upstream of the Primary Sedimentation Basins and constructed with a drilled micropile foundation. Influent and effluent channels, slide gates, platforms, stairs, handrails, and guardrails will be installed around the vortex units. Four (4) grit pumps with associated piping, appurtenances, instrumentation and controls, and grit handling equipment including two (2) classifiers and six (6) hydrocyclones, along with replacement of primary sludge and grit slurry piping, are included. Other work includes installation of electrical and instrumentation and controls systems, relocation of existing utilities, and site restoration.
