To ensure compliance with local, state, and federal purchasing laws and regulations, and in order to comply with the requirements of the Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery, the City will need to re-bid the project per Harris County Community Services Department. The scope of this project includes, but is is not limited to, the following: the build out and renovation to the 7,570 square foot space of an existing building allocated to facilitate an emergency shelter; wood, plastics, and composites; thermal and moisture protection; openings; finishes; specialties; plumbing; HVAC; electrical; communications; electronic safety and security. As of April 11, 2023, a general contractor has not yet been selected for this project. A firm construction timeline for this project has not yet been released. This project is for the renovation of a portion the City of Friendswood's Blackhawk Facility, located at 15355 Blackhawk Boulevard, Friendswood, Texas 77546, into an emergency shelter capable of sheltering up to 400 occupants. The existing facility consists of approximately 7,578 square feet of office space that will be demolished and renovated into a shelter area with restrooms, supply room, clinic area, storage rooms, supply room and lactation room.
