The City of Phoenix utilizes hot, cold, and emulsion binder mix for various projects citywide across various departments. Cold mix asphalt products are utilized in maintaining City streets and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airports roadways, aircraft aprons, parking areas, and other assets within the right-of-way. Hot mix asphalt products are utilized in maintaining the Citys roadways and to repair/replace asphalt that is no longer in accordance with ADA compliance. The City also utilizes asphalt binder emulsion citywide, as an asphalt binder and anionic asphalt emulsion designed to serve as a tack coating for patching and paving. Asphalt emulsions are environmentally friendly, energy-efficient and cost-effective products used for paving and asphalt preservation. Street Maintenance crews utilize emulsion products to pave,patch, repair, and/or coat major, and local streets and parking lots.
