PScope of Work
The purpose of this contract is for the installation of a deep water well, pump, pressurized tank, and distribution system
to the vertical turbine pumps (VTPs) at each of the dissolved oxygen (DO) plants and erosion repairs at the Upper Dissolved Oxygen Plant. The Upriver Dissolved Oxygen Plant is located along the Savannah River near the City of Rincon in Effingham County, Georgia 31326 and the Lower Dissolved Oxygen Plant is located along the Savannah River, on Hutchinson Island in the City of Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia 31421. The contractor will design a deep water well, buffer tank, associated piping system and controls hardware at each of the two DO plants to provide bearing flush water and potable water to each site. The well, filtration system, buffer tank, and distribution system is to be sized to support five (5) gallons per minute (gpm) for each vertical turbine pump, not to exceed 100,000 gallons per day at each site. The Upriver site has 9 VPTs and the downriver site has 10 VTPs, and they operate continuously from June 15th through September 30th of the year. Currently, river water is being used to lubricate the bearings causing excessive wear on the pumps’ shafts and bearings, and clogging the water lubrication system’s filter system due to river water salt and sediment. These bearing flush water systems will provide fresh, clean
water for the VTP’s water lubrication systems for them to run more efficiently and increase the lifetime of the systems. The wells are to be located at least 100ft back from each of the riverbanks to avoid triggering permitting. The erosion repair work at the upriver site will involve the design and installation of a concrete capped sheet-pile wall on the south end of the plant property. The intent is to look like the existing concrete capped sheet pile wall. Access
to this location will be a grave roadway to be constructed as part of this contract. New fencing will be installed including a 20’ 2-leaf gate. Additional riprap will be placed on the shoreline north of the plant. This is a fast-moving procurement due to the design components and lead times of materials. Magnitude of Construction: $1M - $5M Prevailing Wages Apply. Contract duration =320 calendar days
