The purpose of these specifications is to describe requirements for guardrail repair and installation services throughout the City of Savannah (the City). This annual contract calls for bi-annual contractor visits with approximately 1520 linear feet of repair per visit. As-needed emergency repairs are also included in these services. These specifications describe the repair of the existing damaged guardrail (W beam and T beam), the installation of a new guardrail (W beam and T beam), and the installation or replacement of type 12 and one (1) termination. Locations are throughout the City of Savannah, with the majority of the work concentrated on the Truman Parkway. Guardrail located in a paved concrete median/asphalt or similar area, with any concrete/asphalt disturbed to be replaced, is also included in these specifications. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to visit the sites and verify existing site conditions and confirm quantities. Payment will be by unit rate and actual measured quantity as defined in the bid schedule. The City of Savannah has established a 20% DBE goal for this project of which at least half (10%) should be met by a Local DBE. A good faith effort must be made to achieve both goals.
