Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Merced, California. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.

PN- 10120003161 WORKING DAYS: 450 In Merced County At Various Locations The Contractor must have either a Class A license or any combination of the following Class C licenses which constitutes a majority of the work: C-8, C-12. The Project will seismically retrofit five bridges on State Routes 59, 140, and 152 in Merced County to increase their structural integrity. The construction activities include retrofitting hinges with pipe seat extenders and cable restrainers, adding steel column casings, and upgrading non-standard bridge railing In channel work is expected for the Bear Creek Bridge, Los Banos Creek Bridge, and the San Joaquin River Bridge. These three bridges will require dewatering and the installation of temporary water diversions to allow for work within the channel. The diversion at the Bear Creek Bridge will consist of gravel bag berm with an impervious membrane. Approximately 0.54 acre of channel will be dewatered on the north side and south side of the bridge. Flow will be allowed to continue through the center of the channel. The diversion at the Los Banos Creek Bridge will consist of a gravel bag berm with a culvert pipe directing flow of the creek. Approximately 1.06 acre of channel will be dewatered. The diversion at the San Joaquin River Bridge will consist of a gravel bag berm with a culvert pipe directing flow of the river. Approximately 1 acre of channel will be dewatered. In channel work is not anticipated for the San Joaquin River (Santa Rita) Bridge as all work can be done from the bridge deck. However, since the San Joaquin River is considered a navigable water of the United States, the work requires authorization from the Corps under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. Therefore, the work on the San Joaquin River (Santa Rita) Bridge is covered under this Order. In channel work is not anticipated for the Eastside Bypass Channel Bridge and will not require a federal license or permit. Therefore, the work on this bridge is not covered under this Order.
