Demolition, site work and renovation of an educational facility in Catawba, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 6,480-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

Wrestling Room Project - Bandys High School. This Wrestling Room project is a project that includes the combining of two existing classrooms in the existing gym annex in to one large Wrestling Room at Bandys High School. The Building, which has approximately 3,600 sq. ft, will have a work area of 2,880 sq. ft. There will be a small amount of demolition that will be required consisting of an existing office and an existing storage room. The Mechanical Room will remain. The remainder of the project is renovation type activities including the connection of two lay-in ceilings so as to end up with one continuous ceiling at the same height. Mailed Proposals shall be sent to the office of the Construction Coordinator for Catawba County Schools. The sealed proposal shall be mailed inside a cover envelope. The cover envelope shall be addressed as follows: Catawba County Schools Board of Education ATTN: Mr. Kevin Moretz P.O. Box 1010 Newton, NC 28658 The outside of the mailing envelope shall clearly marked as follows: SEALED BID ENCLOSED Do not send or deliver bids to the Architects office. The Architect will not be responsible for delivery of bids to the bid opening. It is the bidding contractors sole responsibility to deliver bids to the specific place at the specific time for the bid opening. It is the contractors sole responsibility to deliver each bid to the proper party designated to open the bids. Complete plans, specifications and contract documents will be open for inspection in the office of Accent Imaging of Hickory and Winstead Architecture, PLLC, 22 North Main Ave. Newton, NC. (1st Floor - Newton Professional Building). The office of the Architect is not responsible for any and all documents and information obtained from any other source other than those listed above. Qualified bidders who will make a bid may obtain an electronic set of bidding documents upon request from the Architect only and by contacting the office of the Architect to provide the appropriate licensure and contact information. Bidders shall register and be qualified prior to obtaining documents. NOTE: Any bidder not properly registered with the office of the Architect shall not be issued any addenda or clarifications The work shall be bid as "Single-Prime Contract" only in the "Informal Method". The Owner will receive bids from General Contractors who have received contract documents through the Architect as stated above. Prime Contractor's wishing to make a bid, who have not obtained bid documents from the Architect, should notify the Architect's office, in writing, no later than the day preceding the date of the bid opening of their intent to submit a bid. Form of Proposal: Submit bids on an identical copy of the form bound in the specification manual. Make an exact copy of the form by means of photocopy or other electronic method and submit bid on copy. Bidders unable to obtain a photocopy directly from their Project Manual should request a copy from the Architect's office. Clarification of Bidder's Questions: All questions shall be directed to the attention of Stan Winstead in the office of the Architect, PO Box 321, Newton, North Carolina 28658, Phone (828) 464-2827, Fax (828) 464-3229, Email winarch@bellsouth.net. Do not contact the owner with questions. Inconsistency of Contract Documents: In the case of inconsistency between the drawings and specifications or within either document, which is not clarified by addendum prior to the bid date, the document requiring a greater quantity and/or better quality of materials and services and the document requiring a greater quantity of work, shall govern. The bidder shall include in his/her bid, an amount sufficient to cover the cost of providing the greater quantity and/or better quality of materials and services and the greater quantity of work. The Architect's decision regarding this requirement shall govern. Deadline for Interpretations and Clarifications: Addenda, if required, will be issued to all prime bidders within not less than three (3) days prior to the established date for receipt of bids. Addenda may be forwarded to bidders by U.S. Postal Service, private delivery, facsimile, or email as determined by the Architect to be the most expedient. It is the sole responsibility of the Bidder to ascertain that he/she has received all Addenda prior to submitting his/her Bid. All Bidders, Subcontractors, and Vendors, wishing to visit the site are required to contact the office by phone prior to making the visit. Visitors to the site shall report their arrival and departure to the office. Office hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. All Prime Bidders are reminded that a site visit prior to submitting bids is a mandatory requirement. License: All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license under the State laws governing their respective trades at the time of submittal of bids. For the purpose of this project, Bidders shall have a NC General Contractors license. Bidders are notified that Chapter 87, Article 1, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding contracts. Bid Security: Not required for this project. Performance and Payment Bonds: Performance Bond and Payment Bond will be required for one hundred per cent (100%) each of the contract price. Property Insurance (Builder's Risk): The Contractor will be required to furnish Property Insurance in the form of an "All Risk" or equivalent policy form such as "Installation Floater" on this project. Minority Participation In accordance with Senate Bill 914 and NC State Statutes, Bidders shall follow written guidelines included in these Contract Documents for minority participation in Public Contracts. "Affidavit A", with corresponding "Identification of Minority Business Participation" or "Affidavit B" as appropriate must be included in the Bid submittal. Failure to include the appropriate document with the Bid Proposal shall be considered grounds for rejection of the bid. (GS 143-128.26 Effective 1/1/2002) GS 133-3: Specifications to Carry Competitive Items; Substitution of Materials: The Bidder is notified that requirements of GS 133-33 are applicable to this project. Substitutions of material which are included in the Bidders Proposal shall be approved by addendum prior to opening of bids. Refer to AIA Document A701 "Instructions to Bidders", paragraph 3.3 - Substitutions.Only requests for substitutions made by Prime Bidders will be considered for inclusion in the project.Requests made by subcontractors, manufacturers, vendors, etc. shall not be considered by the Architect. Each product submittal as a substitute by the Prime Bidder (Contractor) shall be accompanied by the completed and signed copy of the Substitution Request Form bound in the specifications manual. The manufacturer must sign the Substitution Request Form. Substitution requests not submitted by Prime Bidder (Contractor) and/or not signed by the Manufacturer/Vendor shall be disapproved and shall not be allowed for bidding Withdrawal of Bids No Bid, except as provided by G.S. 143-129.1, may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of forty-five (45) days. Miscellaneous: Payment will be made on the basis of ninety-five percent (95%) of monthly estimates and final payment made upon completion of the work and acceptance of work. Bids not properly signed on the Bid Proposal Form shall be rejected as invalid. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities and to accept the bid which appears to be to the Owners best interest.
