Water Main Replacement Project: Green Street and Locust Street (Rt. 35). Contractors intending to bid on this project must obtain a Certificate of Approval from the Massachusetts Highway Department Contract Office, Room 7551 at 10 Park Plaza, Boston, Massachusetts. The proposed work will involve replacement of approximately 6,000 linear feet of existing water mains with new 6, 8, and 12-inch ductile iron water mains within the paved road surface and shoulder of roadway, and installation of new copper water services to each property. The work will involve installation of temporary water mains above the ground during construction, excavation to remove existing water mains and install new water mains and services. Following installation of the new water mains and services, the excavated areas will be backfilled and paved within the existing road surface or loamed and seeded in the shoulder areas. Once the work is complete, the temporary water mains will be removed. The work also includes temporary and permanent trench paving and replacement of pavement markings. The estimated construction cost for this project is $1,950,000. Contract time to substantial completion of all water work is 150 calendar days commencing on the effective date of the Agreement. Contract time to completion of all final paving and restoration work is 180 calendar days. No work to be completed between November 15, 2023 and April 15, 2024 without authorization.
