The Aroostook County Commissioners are soliciting bids for road maintenance in the Unorganized Territory of Aroostook County for a three (3) year period For specifications, please contact: paul g. Bernier community services director county commissioners office 144 sweden street, suite 1 caribou, maine 04736 (207) 493-3318 The County Administrator and/or Commissioners reserve the right to accept and/or reject any and all bids. This contract is for the purpose of having available to the Aroostook County Commissioners a resource for drainage repair; ditching; cleaning culverts; patching; grading gravel surfaces and shoulders; mowing of shoulders and slopes; removal of brush and debris; and any other work as determined by the Aroostook County Community Services Director. Force Account Work may be considered, base. TDR2, "E" Plantation, Connor, T15R6, T16R4 (Madawaska Lake), T16R5 (Square Lake), Sinclair, Cross Lake and Oxbow North Township, Cary Township, and Bancroft Township 1. All bids must be submitted on the attached bid proposal form prior to the bid acceptance date indicated. It is the responsibility of the prospective bidder to inspect the technical specifications, and contract general conditions to ensure a full understanding of the construction and equipment requirements. Any questions regarding the work should be directed to the Community Services Director at least twenty-four (24) hours before the bid due time. 2. The contract award shall be based on the following scoring formula. Based on a review and recommendation by the Community Services Director, the County Administrator and County Commissioners will be the sole judge of the acceptability of the bids and may reject any and all bids if it is judged to be in the best interest of the County of Aroostook. The Contractor may be required to produce evidence of their ability to adequately perform the work before bids are accepted.3. Any errors or omissions detected by prospective bidders should be brought to the attention of the Aroostook County Community Services Director at least twenty-four (24) hours before the bid due date. 4. The Contractor may not be required to provide all of the equipment listed; more specifically, equipment, which would see only occasional seasonal use. The successful Contractor in AREA ONE may be asked to provide assistance in AREA TWO (southern Aroostook County), if that Contractor's equipment can be used to supplement the other Contractor's equipment, and it is deemed to be in the best interest of the County of Aroostook and the Contractor(s) to do so. 5. The County Commissioners reserve the right to accept and/or reject any and all bids. All labor and equipment operator rates per hour shall include all applicable insurance, overhead, and licensing costs and shall include all consumable supplies, hand tools, and other incidentals. Due to the nature of the work, the Contractor's crews may be required to work on weekends, holidays, and extended hours during regular workdays. No additional payment beyond the labor or equipment operator rates shall be made for overtime or additional benefit costs for labor. The Contractor may, on occasion, be requested to attend workshops such as those presented by the Maine Local Roads Center. Attendance is at the Contractor's expense; no additional payment will be made for attendance.
