It is the intent of the County of Santa Clara, Procurement Department to establish a term contract with a contractor to provide interior painting services on an as-needed basis. The term contract shall be for a period of one (1) year, or up to a value of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000), whichever is reached first. The successful contractor shall be responsible for all necessary equipment, tools, materials, labor, and supplies required to perform the work as specified herein. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check, or a bond in the sum of not less than ten percent (10%) of the Contract Sum of two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000).The check or bond must be made payable to "The County of Santa Clara."The "performance bond" must be in an amount of 100% of the Contract Sum as specified in the Notice to Bidders and must be so conditioned as to ensure the faithful performance by Contractor.The "payment bond for public works" must be in an amount of 100% of the Contract Sum as specified in the Notice to Bidders and shall inure to the benefit of persons performing labor orfurnishing materials in connection with the Work. Owner reserves its right to terminate this Contract, or any part thereof, for its sole convenience,upon written notice to Contractor. In the event of such termination, Contractor shall immediately suspend all Work hereunder, and must immediately cause any and all of its Subcontractors, and Suppliers to cease work. Contractor shall not be paid for any work performed,or costs incurred, that reasonably could have been avoided.
