Renovation of an educational facility in Florence, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
A cashiers check or bid bond payable to Florence City Schools Board of Education in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidders proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. Drawings and specifications may be examined at the office of Mechanical Design Services, Inc. 305 Jefferson Street Suite D, Huntsville, AL 35801; Phone 256-534-5150 Only General Contractors who have been approved to bid pursuant to prequalification procedures and criteria established by the Owner will be eligible to bid for the Project. General Contractors must demonstrate successful completion of similar projects on time for satisfied Owners. The pre-qualification proposal shall include: A list of successful projects or similar scope and contract amounts; client names, addresses and telephone numbers. Obtain written pre-qualification procedures and criteria from Mechanical Design Services, Inc. 305 Jefferson Street, Suite D, Huntsville, AL 35801. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975, as amended, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Architect or Owner; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. The bidder must also include license number on the Proposal Form. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of Sixty (60) Days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owners judgment, the best interest of the Owner will thereby be promoted. This project is being bid under the provisions of Alabama Act 2013-205, which requires the Contractor to take advantage of the Owners tax exempt status, obtain necessary certificates and other documentation required from the Alabama Department of Revenue, and to administer the sales and use tax savings portion of the project, as part of their bid. To clarify, this project shall be bid excluding taxes. Nonresident bidders must accompany any written bid documents with a written opinion of an attorney at law licensed to practice law in such nonresident bidders state of domicile, as to the preferences, if any or none, granted by the law of that state to its own business entities whose principal places of business are in that state in the letting of any or all public contracts. Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor bidders and separate Subcontractors are indicated in the Bid and Contract Documents.
