As of January 30, 2024, per owner, a design team has been identified. They are in the early stages of design right now. Newberry County is soliciting proposals from qualified engineers for services to support the implementation of the SubertownRd/Gary Street Sidewalk Project, funded through the SC Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). The CBDG funding will be used to construct approximately 1,700 LF of 5' wide 4" thick ADA compliant concrete sidewalk along Subertown Road from Young Lane to Gary Street, and approximately 710 LF of 5' wide 4" thick ADA compliant concrete sidewalk along Gary Street from Subertown Road to Lowry Street. The new sidewalk will include approximately 14 accessible concrete curb ramps with warning surfaces, one thermoplastic crosswalk, and a one 6" concrete driveway crossing. In addition to construction of the sidewalk, the project will also include contractor mobilization, utility coordination/relocation, traffic control, stormwater mitigation, site grading and grassing, engineering services, and grant administration. To support this project, the County of Newberry is requesting full engineering services to include the following scope of work: o Preparing drawings and specifications o Filing applications for permits and/or design approvals o Revising drawings in response to directives from governmental authorities as needed o Preparing bidding documents and revising as needed o Bidding the project and negotiating with contactors o Putting the contract together and participating in the pre-construction conference o Construction observation and inspection o Preparing pay requests . o Conducting final inspection and providing a notice stating that the work is acceptable o Preparation and/or submittal of contractor prepared final as built drawings All questions and/or requests for clarification regarding this RFP should be provided in writing to Crystal Waldrop no later than June 12, 2023, by close of business at 5:00 p.m., local time. All questions submitted and their answers will be posted on the Newberry County website as an addendum to this RFP.
