Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Houston, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.

This project area is generally bound by 34th St on the north, Brookswood on the south.W. T.C. Jester Blvd, east and Mangum Road on west.(Kev Map No. 451R & 452N) Work of the Contract is for construction of Sherwood Lane from Mangum Rd to W. TC Jester Blvd. Work in the Sherwood Lane area includes removing existing asphalt pavement and installing new reinforced concrete pavement with slotted curbs. This project does not include any proposed utility work. Current drainage on Sherwood Lane is conveyed via roadside ditches. These roadside ditches will be regraded where necessary to allow for flow through ditch. This project also involves removing and replacing damaged concrete sidewalks. Asphalt and concrete driveways will be replaced with concrete driveways to the right-of-way. Saw cutting and dowels for driveways is incidental to the driveway line item. Bus pads are to be constructed per the location and dimension of the plan and profile sheets with 9" concrete pavement, 4" chairs for reinforcing, expansion joints between 4 1/2" and 9" pavement and require METRO approval before placement of concrete. Mailboxes impacted by construction will be replaced with approval of COH. The Work to be performed shall consist of furnishing equipment, and installing all materials, excavation, backfill, grading and paving, disposal of all debris, and surplus excavation material, and the demolition of existing facilities necessary to complete the work as shown on the Drawings and as directed by the Engineer. The contractor shall provide tree protection during construction as shown on the Drawings and as directed by the Engineer. Contractor shall use extra caution when working with equipment around residential structures. Any damage to residential structures by the Contractor shall be repaired at the Contractor's expense. The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating with residents and the HOA on handling of any private features within the right-of-way a minimum of 72-hours prior to any construction activities which may impact these features. These features may include, but are not limited to: existing irrigation systems (including spray and rotary heads and related piping and electrical wiring), mailboxes, decorate walkway, decorate bridge walkway, landscaping, and existing yard drains. All landscaping, irrigation and private electrical conduits and/or equipment including sprinkler systems which are affected by construction of proposed pavement, driveway, sidewalk, storm sewer, and/or water line replacement and/or due to contractor activities, will be considered incidental to the various construction bid items included in Document 00410 - Bid Form, Parts A & B. Contractor shall use caution while working within the proximity of these types of facilities so as to avoid impacts. Should impacts occur restoration shall be to a condition that is equal to or better than prior to start of construction. The repair of replacement of these types of facilities, necessitated by construction activities, will be the contractor's responsibility at no cost to the City. Contractor should verify the operation of the irrigation systems with the property owner prior to starting construction. The Contractor is responsible for replacing water service lines that are in conflict with the Work to be performed and notify the owner. Maintain local driveway access to residential and commercial properties adjacent to work areas. Provide temporary driveway access to driveways in accordance with Section 01555- Traffic Control Regulation and Section 01145- Use of Premises. Coordinate work with affected business owners, school, and adjacent residents. The Contractor is required to inform all parties (residents, HPD, HFD, HISD, METRO, U.S. Postal Service, etc.) impacted by the planned construction, with a construction memo notice and related traffic control planning information, a minimum of 48 hours prior to any planned construction activity and as otherwise directed by the City. There may be some locations within the project area that may require local street detours to facilitate construction of streets from right-of-way to right-of-way that have not been addressed in the plans. B. Additional work includes Extra Bid Items to be used only when directed by the Engineer. C. Contractor is responsible for implementing and maintaining temporary traffic control during construction as shown on the drawings and the latest version of MUTCD. The following is provided in the construction drawings per location: D. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan: The Contractor shall adhere to the requirements of Specification 01570 "Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan" during construction. E. A temporary field office is required for the duration of the project.
