1) Evaluate the structural integrity of the existing shotcrete paneling at the Health Sciences Tower and Basic Sciences Tower through telephoto lens photography and onsite visual inspections. 2) Identify areas in need of repairs including but not limited to efflorescence, cracking, spalling, and rust staining. 3) Identify locations of facade in need of immediate emergency repairs and provide recommendations and design to the Owner for the repair of these locations in accordance with all applicable codes. The Health Science Tower (HST) is an eleven-story, steel framed structure with cast-in-place concrete floors and roof supported on steel deck. The tower is elevated above the topmost plaza level and is supported by steel columns. The exterior walls of the tower are constructed with open web steel joists installed vertically and anchored to the floor structure. The exterior face is gunite (referred to as sprayed concrete on the original drawings) on metal lath, pencil rods, and horizontal spanning angles.
