The Work of this Project includes injecting expansive polyurethane material below the concrete track slab at the intersection of 5th Street South and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis, MN to raise the track slab to a specified elevation. Concrete Pavement, Concrete Repair , Light Rail Transit Construction The embedded Light Rail Transit (LRT) track slab for the Downtown Shared Track at 5th Ave and Portland St in Downtown Minneapolis has experienced continued settlement for some time. If unchecked, this settlement may threaten to lower LRT speeds which will cause delays to the METRO Blue and Green lines. A previous attempt in 2020 to prevent settlement using more traditional construction methods failed to prevent further settlement of the track slab. The work of this contract includes polyurethane jacking to raise the track approximately two (2) inches from its current lowest elevation The MCUB participation goal for this contract is 2% Prepare traffic control layouts/design, furnish, install, maintain, and remove all traffic control devices required to provide safe movement of traffic and pedestrians through the Project at all times from commencement of the Work until Project Acceptance. Maintain roads and pedestrian facilities undergoing improvements in a condition that accommodates public traffic. Do not close roads or pedestrian and bicycle facilities, except as authorized. The CAR may modify the requirements for traffic control as deemed necessary.
