Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is a Bi-state Agency Offering Mass Transit Service Within the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Kcata is Requesting Quotes From Qualified Contractors, Specifically, Contractors Certified As a Small Business Enterprise (Sbes) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise to Provide Labor, Insurance, Supervision, Tools, Supplies, Applicable Bonds and Permits and All Required Materials to Successfully Complete the Scope of Work Attached Herein for Removal of Max Sign Markers and Footings at Locations Removal of MAX branded marker footings and replacement with sidewalk The liquidated damages value is $130 per day. Any questions, comments or requests for clarification are due from bidders NO LATER THAN 10:00 a.m. May 4, 2023, and shall be submitted in writing to kristene@kcata.org. KCATA's response to these submissions will be in the form of an Addendum, with response anticipated to be provided no later than end of business May 5, 2023. SCOPE OF SERVICES The KCATA has five (5) locations throughout the downtown area where MAX station kiosks were removed and taken out of service. The marker footings and electrical equipment extended above the sidewalk surface. To protect pedestrians the old structure foundations and equipment were covered with wooden boxes. These structures need to be removed and permanent sidewalk needs to be repoured in each area. All construction shall conform to APWA-KCMO Standard Specifications. KCATA Project Management Point of Contact: Lesa George (816) 346-0202; email: lgeorge@kcata.org Locations for each site are: 1. 13th and Wyandotte - Northbound - No electric service 2. 13th and Wyandotte - Southbound - No electric service 3. 9th and Oak - Northbound - No electric service 4. 9th and Oak - Southbound - No electric service 5. 67th and Troost - Southbound Scope Details for the removal of the existing structures with equipment and replacement with concrete sidewalk. o Contractor shall provide construction schedule to KCATA for approval prior to commencement of work. Construction schedule shall have appropriate level of detail as determined by owner. o Contractor is responsible for planning, providing, and maintaining traffic control and pedestrian detours per current KCMO standards. o Contractor is responsible for obtaining any permits required for this work, including but not limited to traffic control, demolition, sidewalk closures, minor infrastructure permits, etc. from Kansas City Missouri prior to construction. o No sidewalk shall be closed for more than 15 days without a waiver from the City. o Contractor shall familiarize themselves with site prior to submitting a proposal. o Contractor is responsible for all utility locates required to complete the work. o Prior to starting demolition contractor shall confirm that the existing electrical equipment does not have a live electrical power connection. o Contractor shall disconnect any power feeds from the traffic signal cabinet or other source as required. Contractor shall notify Public Works - Traffic Signal division prior to starting electrical work. The point of contact is Michael Coca Supervisor of Maintenance: Phone (816)808-0109. Email: Michael.Coca@kcmo.org. o Contractor shall remove and dispose of any existing conductors running to the pedestal locations. o Conduits may be abandoned in place but shall be filled with foam to at least 4' on each end and capped. o Contractor shall remove the pedestal and the surrounding sidewalk to the nearest joint and demolish any existing structure to a minimum of 8" below the existing grade to allow a 4" concrete sidewalk to be poured over the area. All demolished material shall be removed and properly disposed of offsite. o Contractor shall fill any voids below eight (8) inches in depth according to APWA-KCMO Standard Specifications. o New sidewalk shall be placed according to APWA-KCMO standard specifications. Sidewalk shall be removed and replaced to nearest joint. o New flatwork shall be jointed to match existing type and pattern
