Saiki Design was the awarded vendor for this project. The City of Sun Prairie department of Economic Development is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors for urban design services for three sites in Downtown Sun Prairie. See solicitation document for detailed scope of work. The City intends to complete this process over the summer and early fall of 2023. This timeline is particularly important for the Main Street Pedestrian Safety component of the project (see below), which is tentatively slated for construction in 2024. Completion of the design-development work by fall of 2023 would allow the City's Engineering staff to prepare plans and specifications for bidding over the winter, and a competitive bidding process to occur in early 2024. Limited support from City staff to assist with identifying stakeholders, meeting logistics, posting of public notices, and other miscellaneous services may be available, but expectations in these areas should be detailed in responses to this RFP. The City is interested in creative ideas for public and stakeholder engagement and encourages responders to propose activities that have proven to be effective on past projects. The goal of the project is to create interesting, attractive, timeless, multi-functional, and usable spaces based on the input received from stakeholders The Scope of Work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the work described herein. The City of Sun Prairie is soliciting proposals from qualified consultants with significant urban design experience to assist with the creation of design plans for three public spaces within its downtown. The desired level of detail and design development varies between the three sites, as described herein, but design uniformity between the spaces is desired to integrate the projects into the overall downtown. It is also important that the three spaces are compatible with other streetscape elements already present within the downtown. In addition to preparing design-development plans for the three spaces, the project shall include a public engagement component that solicits feedback from key stakeholders and the general public to ensure that the resulting designs address the predominant needs and desires of the community.
