The project is located at Big Bend National Park, Panther Junction, TX. The construction magnitude is $1M to $5M. The surrounding area is rural with limited staging located at multiple pull out areas adjacent to each bridge. The Bridge Preservation construction site is 100 miles from nearest city with suppliers and lodging facilities (Alpine, TX or Terlingua, TX). The Park will remain open during construction, thus contract activities and logistics must be structured and scheduled to minimize visitor impact. The site requires protective measures to ensure the surrounding area remains undisturbed. The structures may be used for roosting bats and vegetation surrounding structures may be used for nesting and time of year restrictions may apply. The anticipated period of performance of 130 calendar days from Notice to Proceed including any potential weather shutdown. There are seasonal/other shutdowns mandated through the construction season. Winter construction window will be required. Project Scope: Scope of Service requirements include furnishing all necessary management, supervision, labor, equipment, materials, transportation, supplies, technical expertise, and any other incidental services supporting road and bridge preservation and maintenance construction services to the BIBE - National Park Service. Additionally, the scope include mobilization, contractor quality control, traffic control, fabrication and/or delivery of individual elements or temporary works, earthwork, asphalt and concrete repair and surfacing, drainage improvements, tree and vegetation protection, as well as the following: Bridge Preservation, Preventive Maintenance, and Repair Activities - including but not limited to the following work at seven (7) bridge structures: Concrete Deck Cleaning Repair Deck Joints and Deck Joint Seals Cleaning Repair Removal/Replacement Scupper and Drainage Cleaning Repair Removal/Replacement Bearings/Substructures Bearing Restoration (Cleaning, Lubrication, Resetting, Replacement) Substructure Concrete Patch/Repair Installation of New Concrete Corbels Substructure Protection (Spot/Zone/Full Painting/Protective Coating) Other Bridge Seal/Patch/Repair Structural and Non-Structural Concrete/Steel Members Protective Coating of Concrete/Steel Elements Spot/Zone/Full Painting Steel Elements Fatigue Crack Mitigation Removal of General Soiling, Biological Growth, Paint Residue, and Other Staining Pile Preservation Other Movable Bridge Machinery Cleaning/Lubrication/Repair Scour Countermeasures (Installation/Repair) Channel Cleaning/Debris Removal Timber Repair to Structural Members, Railings, Curb, Deck, etc. Spall Repair Bridge Surroundings Vegetation Clearing/Removal Erosion Control Guardrail Repair/Replacement/Installation Limited Roadway Signage Specialty Trades - The Contractor will be capable of furnishing the necessary expertise related to the work and comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Local requirements in the performance of work. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
