Extent of testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) work required by this Section is indicated on drawings and schedules, and by requirements of this Section; and is defined to include, but is not necessarily limited to air distribution systems and associated equipment and apparatus of mechanical work. The work consists of periodic site visits to observe and report on the mechanical systems installation, setting speed and volume (flow) adjusting facilities provided for systems, recording data, conducting tests, preparing and submitting reports, and recommending modifications to work as required by contract documents. 1. Prior to construction, take measurements of air flow rates for each VAV box serving the area of remodeling, with the VAV boxes at their maximum open positions. Record these CFMs and send this information to the Architect/Engineer. 2. When it is substantially complete, test, adjust, and balance the air handling system VAV boxes, ductwork, and supply diffusers. Work of this Section shall be coordinated with work of all other sections and shall be scheduled in a timely manner to avoid causing delays in Substantial Completion of the project. B. Effort has been made to provide balancing dampers and balancing valves in ductwork and piping systems. The contractor providing TAB services shall review the plans for dampers and valves necessary for balancing the systems and shall include in their bid (and provide) additional valves and dampers as they deem necessary to achieve balanced systems. Interior remodeling to renovate 8,175 SF of the lower level of the New Main building on the main campus of Metro State University. The renovation will include updating of HVAC, electrical power, and lighting and technology systems.
