Renovation of an educational facility in Red Deer, Alberta. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 22,979-square-foot, one-story above grade educational facility.
The scope of work includes renovations to the existing student washrooms at Pines Alternative School, located at 8 Page Avenue, Red Deer. The building has operated as an alternative high school since September, 2022, and the building was originally designed as an elementary school. The building works well for the Alternative School, and they are expecting the program expand in the coming years. The student population is students who don't fit the typical high school learning models. Approximately one third of the building is operated as a day care, and however this may change into the Alternative School in the coming years as the program expands. The existing washrooms are a security concern due to the student type and additional supervision is needed. The new layout has been approved by senior administration at Red Deer Public Schools, as the layout is open which provides better supervision. Bathrooms need to be operational during school days and hours. Contractor is responsible to remove hazardous materials in the construction area.
