The City of Sebastian proposes Rehabilitation of Runway 5-23 at the Sebastian Municipal Airport, 202 Airport Drive E, Sebastian, FL 32958. The proposed project intends to rehab the existing runway 5-23 at the Sebastian Municipal Airport to improve pavement conditions and to conduct improvements to the lighting system. The pavement condition is a 69 PCI and is 15 years old. It requires a mill and overlay before conditions on the pavement surface worsen. Replacement of REIL's, quartz MIRL with LED is included. The runway is 4,023 feet long and 75 feet wide flexible pavement runway that shows some pavement distresses including longitudinal cracks that have started raveling, some minor fatigue cracking, few depressed areas, and a localized rutting runway. The surface is oxidized and very raveled, leading to a rough surface with some FOD from loose aggregates. New pavement will allow for the correction of any deficiencies in the runway grade and provide a new pavement surface free of rutting and loose aggregate. This will extend the usable life of the existing runway pavement and provide a surface meeting or exceeding FAA grading requirements in conformance with AC 150/5300-13B.
