Location-Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve Project Location The property is bordered by Lobitos Creek on the south, Purisima Creek on the north, and District owned property on the east and west. Access to the construction site is from Verde Road via a dirt farm road. This project is for the construction of a 5-wire wildlife friendly livestock fence to contain cattle and prevent access to the riparian area along Lobitos Creek on the Elkus Lobitos Ranch. The property is located in Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District's Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. This Project is intended to be completed in two phases as described below. Construction of approximately 7,800 feet of wildlife friendly 5-wire livestock fence, including the installation of three (3) 14-foot-wide powder-coated pipe gates and one powder-coated pipe pedestrian gate. The pedestrian gate will be supplied by the District. Locations of gate installations are shown on Attachment A. Phase I This fence will be approximately 4,200 feet running adjacent to Lobitos Creek set 10 feet outside of the riparian area. Presently, there is about 1,000 feet of old wire fencing within the riparian area that will be removed and disposed of as a part of this project. Costs for this are to be included in contractors bid. Two 14-foot powder-coated pipe gates will be installed in this stretch of fence as shown on Attachment A. One pipe-style pedestrian gate, supplied by the District, will be installed also shown on Attachment A. Phase II This fence will be approximately 3,600 feet running adjacent to Lobitos Creek then turning northerly uphill to connect to an existing pasture fence. One 14-foot powder-coated pipe gate will be installed as shown on Attachment B. There is moderate coyote brush encroachment in the location of the fence which will require removal. Bids should include the cost of removal for six feet on either side of fence line and approximately 3,000 feet in length. Note: No welding is allowed onsite from June - November due to fire risk. Welding will need to be completed off-site. You must register to attend the site visit no later than 3:00 pm May 30, 2023.
