University of Toronto Scarborough, UTSC is studying the addition of a new permanent structure with an indoor artificial turf field referred to as the Field House. The site selected is located on the northern UTSC campus, just east of the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC), a world-class multi-sport facility at Morningside Avenue and Military Trail. The lands presently consist of two new regulation size soccer pitches, practice areas and a volleyball area. It is important to note, the lands east of Morningside Avenue, north of Ellesmere Road and west of Conlins Road are within the area of potential influence of a landfill site. As an area of potential influence of a landfill site, development shall only be permitted where studies of gas, leachate and hydrogeology have been carried out by a qualified engineer, and that these studies have determined that development can safely take place. TIMELINE: A Request For Proposals has been issued by the University of Toronto seeking responses from Architects for professional services relating to the Field House Feasibility Study at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus (UTSC). Respondents will have significant experience with planning and designing similar sports facilities. The successful Proponent will deliver a comprehensive Feasibility Study report. The goal of the project is to make recommendations for a functional space program and project scope that supports UTSC's vision and strategic goals for the development of a new Field House on campus.
