Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Raleigh, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The new Fire & Rescue Training Center will provide specialized training to prepare students and recruits for real-world emergency scenarios. The training center will include the following: Site Development: The center will be located on approximately 8.85 acres of undeveloped land northeast of the main tract. Site access will be via a stream crossing from the newly constructed main campus. Burn Building - 6,900 sf: The burn building will be a six-story, mixed use, live fire training structure constructed of reinforced concrete and masonry, measuring approximately 6900 sf. Training Tower - 3,200 sf: The training tower will be a five-story structure constructed of reinforced concrete and masonry, measuring approximately 3,200 sf. Outdoor Training Grounds: The training village will provide a simulated street scape with exterior space for various training scenarios and for props such as: 1) Exterior Gas-fired (propane) Props, 2) Fire Behavior Lab (“flashover container”), 3) Roof Ventilation Prop, 4) Drafting Pit, 5) Vehicle Extrication pad, and 6) Hazmat Training Pad. Administrative and Classroom Building - 8,000 sf: The Administration and Classroom Building, at approximately 8,000 sf. ft., will provide support for training. Several Bid Alternate are anticipated to be developed as part of the early design/preconstruction phase to manage available funds.
