As of February 29, 2024, a bid tabulation has been identified, award pending. The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to evaluate and select an A/E to assist the Owner in the performance of its obligations and enforcement of its rights during the design and/or construction of the Otto Recreation Building exterior repairs located at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Otto Recreation Center was originally constructed in 1960. In 2004 the building underwent a major renovation which included removing 4 stair towers that were located outside of the main building footprint. That project addressed some deterioration of the concrete beam that was in the original stair enclosure. The project addressed repairs to the concrete and adding several structural steel components for what appears to be additional reinforcement. They also coated the exterior face of the concrete beam with acrylic stucco finish. This year we observed numerous cracks/ pealing of the stucco surface. We removed loose areas and notice that the deterioration went all the way into the concrete beam and exposed the rebar in the beam, which is deteriorated to a point that we have determined that a Design firm should review the existing conditions, provide recommendations for repairs, complete a bidding set of drawings and specifications for this project. Services should also include bidding and construction administration services. The project will be constructed in one phase. The Owner intends to use the Design/Bid/Build delivery method for this project. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
