Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Bedford, Virginia. Design plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The Town of Bedford is seeking proposals from consulting engineering firms who wish to be considered to provide professional engineering/bridge design and environmental services for the replacement of Bridge No. 8000, McGhee Street over Norfolk Southern (NS) Railway. The existing bridge structure is a three-span, two (2) steel girder bridge with a timber deck and concrete abutments. The existing bridge was built in 1907 and is 93’-6” long with a single lane roadway that is 14’ 9” curb to curb. Due to the poor condition of this structure, this bridge was closed to traffic in September 2018. As of September 28, 2023, a design team has been selected.
