As of May 31, 2024, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. Architect firm information and a firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The University of Toledo ("UToledo") is soliciting qualifications for professional Architect/Engineer ("A/E") Services for the renovation of the C and D wings of the 6th floor University of Toledo Medical Center Hospital ("UMC") to create a new 11 bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum ("LDRP") unit. U Toledo's UMC was built in 1976. The original use of the 6th floor C and D wings was primarily patient rooms. The facility has gone through minor renovations and maintenance as needed. The current user group is Inpatient Recovery Services. Preliminary investigation assumes that the project will consist of approx. 2,635 SF of corridor finishes and lighting refresh. Additionally, roughly 2,650 SF of moderate upgrades include 7 existing patient rooms that will require renovations but will remain predominantly intact. Also included will be approx. 5,4 00 SF of major renovation consisting of the conversion of a recovery activity room and major reconfiguration of existing patient rooms into a cesarean suite, LDRP patient rooms, family waiting, a nursery suite, and more as determined by the Program of Requirements ("POR"). The selected A/E will prepare the final POR as part of this project. A/E will be required to comply with all applicable building codes, Ohio Administrative Code, and the Ohio Department of Health Requirements for an LDRP unit. As this is a renovation to an existing UToledo building, the design will need to closely follow University standards and design guidelines. This project is a continuation of clinical operation improvements associated with the University of Toledo and the University Medical Center.
