The City is looking purchase the services of the removal, repair and reinstallation of elephant hydraulic cylinders. The Contractor shall furnish all equipment, labour, materials, tools, and all miscellaneous items necessary to refurbish and/or replace hydraulic cylinder assemblies and assess whether their respective pistons need to be replaced at the Honolulu Zoo's Elephant Enclosure in accordance with these specifications. 1.Coordinate all work with the Honolulu Zoo Staff. Contact Damien Gilding at (808) 768-7151. Exhibit A- Floor Plan Schematic is provided to show location of gates.
2.Remove the identified hydraulic cylinders from the I-beam support structure and gate attachment. Exhibit B is provided to show a typical elephant transfer door installation. If the Contractor plans to replace the whole cylinder assembly in lieu of refurbishment, the Contractor may skip steps 4-8 and proceed to step 9.
3. Remove and identify cylinder from Elephant Restraint Device (ERD) unit structure. A hydraulic layout is provided to show a typical ERD unit of eighteen (18) cylinders total.
4.Transport the hydraulic cylinders to the Contractor's shop or other off-site facility for refurbishment. No refurbishment work shall be permitted within the Honolulu Zoo.
5. Remove the piston/rod from the cylinder and drain any residual hydraulic fluid.
6. Remove any visible signs of previous hydraulic fluid leaks from the exterior of the cylinder. Repaint the exterior if necessary.
7. Assess whether piston/rods need to be replaced. If pistons/rods need to be replaced, contact the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and wait for confirmation to change it (i.e. Replacement Order will be issued, then refer to Section III. B in this Scope of Work). Re-install piston-rods if the old ones do not need to be replaced.
8. Provide and install new O-ring seals.
9. (Re)-install hydraulic cylinders at their respective transfer doors/ERD unit.
10. Refill hydraulic reservoir with food-grade, non-toxic Citgo Clarion FG AW- 32 hydraulic fluid or approved substitute. Nominal system pressure is 100 psi at 20 gpm at each door location.
11.
