The purpose of this contract is to install High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) to improve pavement friction and reduce crashes on roads and/or streets in New Castle County, Delaware, including all Expressways (I-95, I-495, SR 1 and US 301). This contract is intended to install HFST overlays on existing hot-mix or concrete pavement surfaces as directed by the Department. The work shall include, but not be limited to maintenance of traffic as required per location, milling and pavement patching, cleaning and preparation of roadway surface, installation of high-friction surface treatment, masking of in-roadway utility appurtenances, installation and/or removal of pavement markings and the removal of any associated construction debris. Follow other incidental construction in accordance with the location, notes and details shown on the plans, and as directed by the Engineer. LOCATION: The specific work sites are not listed herein but will be scheduled by issuance of Work Orders by the Engineer. Work Orders will indicate the work to be performed at each site and the Calendar Days for completion. PRE-BID MEETING: No CONTRACT DURATION: This is a 1,095 Calendar Day contract. The contract cannot be extended. The Department's intent is to issue a Notice to Proceed for work to start on or about August 28, 2023.
