This project provides for maintenance and upgrades at the Sheriff's Firing Range Complex. This 5-year window include construction of a tactical shoot house, replacement of the fence on the berm wall and upgrades to the parking area. The tactical shoot house will be a training facility to practice building searches and clearing, as well as force on force building entries. This facility will accommodate in-service and academy training to cover required objectives by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). The berm wall acts as a bullet stop at the firing range. This project will replace the wooden fence on top of the berm and fill it with gravel. This project will create a gravel parking area with several carport-type structures. The covered parking expansion will provide a storage area for trailers and specialty vehicles that do not require power access. These trailers and vehicles are currently showing wear from sunlight damage and are in need of repair due to being uncovered in the elements.
