The Town of Shrewsbury, a population of 38,325 (2020 US Census), invites qualified firms to submit proposals to provide design services associated with the improvement and extension of the Jordan Pond Shared Use Path. The project will complete design and engineering by an engineering consulting firm for a new Shared-Use Path on the southern, eastern and northern sides of Jordan Pond which will also be in conformance with contemporary accessibility requirements of a Shared-Use path. The project envisions the design of two scenarios: the first design scenario would demonstrate the feasibility and design requirements for connecting the existing shared use path around the southern, eastern and northern sides of the pond to create a complete loop around the entire perimeter of Jordan Pond; the second design scenarios would demonstrate the feasibility and design requirements for adding an extension of the existing shared-use path to the edge of 29 R eed Street on the eastern side of Jordan Pond for a partially completed loop. Both designs will include connecting shared-use paths to the Worthington Avenue neighborhood via Ridgemont Street or Jackson Street in order to create access to Jordan Pond for an existing Environmental Justice community. The process will also include a community forum for the residents of the area to provide input on the design and amenities of the trail. All bids for this project are subject to the provisions of Mass. G.L. Chapter 30B, and Mass. G.L. Chapter 7C Sec. 44-58, as amended. Bidders on this work will be required to comply with the Presidents Executive Order No. 11246 (Affirmative Action to Ensure Equal Employment Opportunity) and any amendments or supplements thereto. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, and waive informalities in the bidding procedure, or to accept the proposal deemed best for the Town. The successful bidder shall start the work under this contract within seven (7) calendar days after its acceptance by the Town Manager.
