Saving Project...

Demolition, site work, new construction, remodeling and renovation of a library in Charlotte, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a library; for the renovation of a library; for site work for a library; and for the construction of a 110,000-square-foot library.

Demolition of the old main library began in August, 2023. Vertical construction is expected to commence late fourth quarter, 2024. New Main Library, the flagship of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s system, is approximately 110,000 SQFT in Uptown Charlotte, and includes spaces for print and digital collections, meeting rooms, study spaces, program and event gatherings, a café, and a digital experiences room. New Main Library will connect to the adjacent existing Spirit Square which includes renovation of the McGlohon Theater and Duke Energy Theater.
