CR Number: 2098759 Request for Qualifications Cornell University is seeking proposals from consultants to provide design services for a roof replacement project at the Veterinary Medical Center. The Cornell Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) is a 300,000SF facility that houses three of Cornell's animal hospitals: the Companion Animal Hospital, the Cornell Equine Hospital, and the Nemo Farm Animal Hospital. It is also the home of the hospital's Ambulatory Service, which makes on-site visits to dairies and farms throughout the region. The hospitals are all very active and reportedly see more than 30,000 cases per year. The VMC was constructed in 1995 and all the existing roof systems are original. As such they are reaching and, in some cases, past, the end of their useful lives. There are roughly 130,000SF of ballasted EPDM roof and another 30,000SF of metal roof that need to be replaced and brought up to par with the new energy codes. There are also 15 skylights that need to be replaced and miscellaneous flashing and masonry issues that will need to be addressed. The purpose of this project is to make a wholistic assessment of all existing roof systems and then provide construction documents to replace and/or repair said systems.
