The Contractor shall be solely responsible for ensuring the delivery of the sealed bid no later than the time specified. Use of the U.S. Postal Service or any other mail or courier service which may result in delayed delivery shall not relieve the Contractor from the conditions of the bid opening deadline. The Work of the project, as defined in greater detail by other provisions of the Contract Documents, consists of the improvements to the existing Big Bend Trail corridor (approx. 1.1 miles) which begins at the existing Nolan Road Hudson River Boat Launch Facility, extends south along the Hudson Riverfront, and then loops around through a forested area. The Base Bid consists of five trail segments (1. Parking trail segment: 6-ft. wide asphalt pavement, 2. Entrance trail segment: 12-ft. wide asphalt pavement, 3. Waterfront trail segment: 6-ft. wide stone aggregate pavement, 4. Overlook trail segment: 6-ft. wide stone aggregate pavement (includes overlook destination node - widened stone aggregate pavement area with two benches), and 5. Inland trail segment: 6-ft. wide stone aggregate pavement); and installation of a new trailhead (access gate, relocated salvaged landscape boulders, bike rack on concrete pavement pad) and asphalt parking pad within the existing gravel parking area. All site work, earth work, excavation, hauling and disposal, and preparation as required to install trail segments and pavement as designed, site restoration, and all other appurtenances as shown in the Contract Documents shall be included. .
