Site work for a water / sewer project in Richmond, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Works consists of the following: Hidden Creek Park Stream Restoration - A stream restoration length of approximately 1,425 LF. The design utilizes Priority Level 2 restoration, adding sinuosity back into the previously straightened channel. The banks along the floodplain of the confined channel will be graded back allowing for 3 to 1 slopes, creating greater stability. A low-gradient C4 channel has been designed for the site, utilizing woody features such as log sills and brush toe to dissipate velocities and shear stresses during storm flows. Riffle and pool cross sections were developed using a combination of Virginia regional curve data, reference reaches, onsite bankfull data collection and stream gauge data. The Hidden Creek Park Stream Restoration is located on one County owned parcel with a combined acreage of 24.44 acres. The site is located within a wooded area to the northeast of the Hidden Creek Park Recreation Center. Adams Elementary School Stream Restoration - A stream restoration length of 584 linear feet (LF) with a restoration length of approximately 527 LF. Restoration efforts will consist of natural channel design (NCD) techniques and will require priority level II restoration creating a new floodplain bench within the existing confined valley. Priority level II restoration was selected given the existing culvert invert elevation and because the project requires a no-rise certification with regard to the water surface elevation for the FEMA 100-year floodplain. The slopes along the newly created flood bench will be graded to a minimum of 2.5:1 to create additional stability within the valley. A B3c channel has been designed for this site with a steeper step-pool sequence mimicking a B3a channel design just downstream of the culvert outfall. The proposed design minimizes impact to an existing sanitary sewer easement and associated aerial sanitary sewer crossing. Riffle cross sections were developed using a combination of Virginia regional curve data, reference reaches, onsite bankfull data collection, and stream gauge data. The Adams Elementary School Stream Restoration is located on one County owned parcel with a combined acreage of 16 acres. The site is located north of Gillie Creek, south of East. Foxhill Road, and west of Jacob L. Adams Elementary School. Sealed bids will be opened and publicly read aloud at 3:00 P.M., local prevailing time, June 30, 2023, through a WebEx The Work shall be Substantially Complete and certified by the Owner within 240 calendar days after the date of the written Notice to Proceed from the Owner to the Contractor.
