This project will replace all of the vitrified clay water mains primarily located in the easements and alleys behind homes, in addition to some areas where the watermains are in the roadway. The project is proposed to be carried out over three years, with 2019 and 2020 having construction of Phase 1. Design of Phase 2 is proposed in FY 2024 and will replace the old watermains. The mains located in alleys and roadways will be replaced there, while the mains located in easements will be relocated to the roadway in front of the properties. Replacement of this old, easily broken watermain is necessary to provide consistent water quality, pressure and reducing the occurrence of watermain breaks, which will decrease the frequency of boil water notices, and reduce maintenance costs that this area has been subject to in the past. As of June 20, 2023, this project is included in the City of Lake Worth Beach's FY 2022-2026 CIP. Information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to fiscal year 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
