This Request for Proposals (the RFP) is an invitation by Queens University (Queens) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for a Scintillating Bubble Chamber (SBC) Pressure Vessel and Vacuum Jacket, as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix D) (the Deliverables). The scintillating bubble chamber (SBC) experiment is a dark matter detector that is aimed at detecting low-mass weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). This RFP is for the pressure vessel (PV) and vacuum jacket (VJ) required for this detector. The pressure vessel and vacuum jacket described in this specification will be used to contain and support a physics apparatus. The SBC project team requests a proposal for the design, TSSA registration, and fabrication of one section VIII pressure vessel, as well as one connected vacuum jacket, as per the requirements indicated in this RFP. The stainless steel ASME Section VIII pressure vessel will be used as part of the SBC experiment. SBC is a dark matter experiment using synthetic quartz vessels inside a pressure vessel to search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). The pressure vessel will be located underground in the Ladder Lab at SNOLAB. SNOLAB is an underground science laboratory (Class 2000 clean lab) located 2 km underground at Creighton Mine in Lively Ontario, near Sudbury.
