The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) is seeking proposals from qualified proponents to develop an Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP) for the electoral areas of the FVRD, to improve active transportation infrastructure, connectivity, and safety for residents and visitors. The development of an FVRD ATNP will directly address the region's shared vision to advance a safe and efficient transportation system allowing people who want to use active modes for commuting to life's various activities to do so. An ATNP supports regional livability by expanding a network of multi-use pathways for cycling, walking and rolling that connects residents to parks, natural areas, communities and employment areas. Furthermore, an established active transportation network helps minimize the transportation system's impact on air quality and promotes community health. The ATNP will identify opportunities for active transportation, such as walking, cycling, and other non-motorized modes, and provide a strategic framework for their development. The Proponents shall have experience and knowledge in active transportation planning in a rural setting.
