Mechanical Biomass Treatment and Mechanical and Hand Fuel Reduction Sierra Nevada Conservancy has provided funding to Sierra County to work with Tahoe National Forest, Yuba Ranger District, to reduce hazardous fuels and implement aspen restoration measures on 264 acres of national forest system lands. The goals of this project are to increase forest health, maintain emergency access during wildfire, protect water resources, and preserve the health of aspen stands. Funding for the implementation of this project is valid through December 31, 2023. Work to be Completed: With this Request for Proposals ("RFP"), the COUNTY of SIERRA ("COUNTY") seeks experienced and qualified firm(s) or team(s) of firms to provide fuel reduction and forest health services including 1) 139 acres of mechanical falling, processing, skidding, decking, chipping, and log/chip haul, 2) eighty-eight acres of mechanical fuel reduction including mechanical cutting, chipping, and chip haul, and 3) thirty-seven acres hand cut/pile as per APPENDIX D Schedule of Items and Specifications, APPENDIX E Timber Removal Specifications, and APPENDIX F Guidelines for Operations. The project units are located at various locations along State Route 49 between Bassetts and Yuba Pass within Sierra County as shown on APPENDIX C. This is a service contract, with all logs delivered to the purchasing mill and timber receipts will be retained by County of Sierra. All work listed within this RFP must be completed prior to the onset of inclement weather that would prevent operations, or December 31, 2023, whichever occurs first.
