As of May 3, 2024, this project is in sub bidding. Both an architect and a construction manager have been selected. A firm timeline for construction has not been established; however, construction is anticipated to begin May of 2024. A detailed scope has not been released. 2022 Bond Phase II NEW WESTGATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Originally built in 1956 and then rebuilt hastily in Summer 1975 after the May tornado. $23 million projected cost as it expands from 49,979 square foot to 54,515 square foot. This new school will be approximately 54,500 sf and incorporate historical attributes and/or materials from the existing elementary school. It will include: a separate cafeteria and gymnasium, dedicated elective classroom space, improved drop off and pick up access, upgraded security and entrance vestibules, improved ADA access, and the construction of FEMA-rated storm shelters. The new elementary school will need to be designed to allow project-based learning areas. It must also provide a safe, healthy, and secure environment for educators, learners, and staff. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
