Debris Management, Monitoring, and Consulting Services The City of La Marque is strategically situated in Galveston County, approximately 15 miles south of Houston and four miles north of Galveston Island. La Marque is the second-fastest-growing city in Galveston County with an estimated population of 18,000, an area of 14.25 square miles and boasting 14.3 miles of I-45 frontage more than any other city in Galveston County. Citizens enjoy easy, breezy coastal living, abundant housing options and the security of a hurricane protection levee system. The City of La Marque is a coastal community and is vulnerable to natural and manmade disasters including but not limited to hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, oil spills, and hazardous material releases. Disasters such as hurricanes often produce large volumes of debris. Debris and damaged trees create hazardous conditions including blocked roadways/drives and obstacles to emergency vehicles. These hazards and obstacles often block routine, essential, and emergency traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian. One of the first essential steps in securing the community is the removal of hazardous debris to allow for security, emergency, and other service traffic. It is in the best interest of the Owner to enter into an agreement for a term of one year with a firm to provide debris management and monitoring services because of a disaster. A final determination will be made at a future City of La Marque Council meeting. City of La Marque reserves the right to reject any and all request for proposals and waive any and all formalities and conditions. TERM OF SERVICE / PROJECT: A three (3) year Agreement with an option to automatically renew for two (2) additional years in one (1) year increments.
