Construct Chabal & Elm Street Water Main Improvements including all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for installation of approximately 2385 LF of 8" water main; valves; hydrants; 573 SY PCC driveway; 356 SY of PCC pavement; 474 LF of 12" storm sewer; intakes; seeding; and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment for all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor, and shall guarantee the work against faulty workmanship and materials for a period of four (4) years after its completion and acceptance by the City Council. Interim liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for each day that work on Chabal Street in front of the school shall remain uncompleted after August 20, 2023. Liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per consecutive calendar day will be assessed for each day that work shall remain uncompleted after October 27, 2023, with due allowance for extensions of the contract period due to conditions beyond the control of the Contractor. Inclement weather shall not be considered for extension of the contract period. Separate liquidated damage assessments may be made for each of the two completion dates. The City of Solon reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
