The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: replacing the HVAC equipment for the old control room and relay room in the power plant. Completion of the project is to be expected no laterthan June 30, 2024. Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on December 6, 2023. Said questions may be sent via e-mail to amanda.moore@cityofames.org or mailed or delivered to the Purchasing Division at 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, IA 50010. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Said bid security shall be based on an amount equal to at least 5% of the bid amount. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
