The City of Markham is soliciting bids from qualified contractors with extensive experience in deep energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction retrofit for the Thornhill Community Centre's Energy & GHG Retrofit project. The contractor must satisfy all the requirement as set by this bid request and perform the work as defined by the project's specifications and drawings in compliance with all the local standards, codes, and best industry practices as applicable. The purpose of this pilot project is to reduce the energy use and GHG emissions for Thornhill CC's by retrofitting the facility with multiple low-carbon measures in a way that optimizes the project budget and cash flow, complies with Infrastructure Canada's Green & Inclusive Community Building (GICB) program requirements, and demonstrates a planned trajectory of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. This project is in alignment with the City's Municipal Energy Plan (MEP) target of achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The City has completed the detailed design of the project with MCW Consultants Ltd. & Walter Fedy as detailed in this tender package and per the high-level summary below. This design includes several mechanical, electrical, architectural, and structural systems in the facility that includes; - Boilers B-1 & B2 fuel conversion to heat pump system, - Boilers B-3 & B-4 fuel conversion to heat pump system, - Domestic Hot Water fuel conversion to a hybrid electric water tank heat pump system for the senior building, - Shower Head replacement to low-flow for the facilities change rooms, - Rink Unit Heaters conversion from natural gas to hydronic unit heaters, - Addition of spa covers with R4 insulation during unoccupied times, - Interior Lighting conversion to LED, - Make-Up Unit Replacement and Upgrade with Cooling, - Roof Top Units (11) Conversion Air Source Heat Pumps, - BAS Integration of new system to existing BAS through the City's contractor, - Exterior Doors & Glazing Replacement, and - Infiltration Mitigation in reducing air leakages within the facility.
