The purpose of this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is to request Statements of Qualifications from responding firms in order to gain adequate information by which City of Decatur Fire Department may evaluate the qualifications offered by responding firms with the end goal of selecting the best qualified firm to perform the requested services. The City of Decatur is expanding its fire station coverage and will be contracting for architectural design services for the new Decatur Fire Station #2. In the initial phase, the City plans to hire an architectural team and a qualified Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) to execute the project's design through Construction Documents (CDs), leading to an established Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Council approval. The new station will be situated on approximately (2 )acres and will feature living quarters for (10) firefighters and (2) company officers. It will include individual bunk rooms, separate shower/dressing rooms, a dayroom, and a dining room for all (12 )crew members. The station will have 3.5 bays, with three of them being drive-through bays. The design will incorporate a decontamination area to promote "shower within the hour" and ample apparatus support space using the green-yellow-red zone strategy. Additionally, there will be an exterior living patio space and a community table within the apparatus bay to foster crew camaraderie. A separate entrance, possibly off the lobby, will provide space for a police department report writing room. The facility will also include covered staff parking and an ancillary support building housing a fitness center, SCBA repair shop, and storage for props and other materials.
