The project includes the Work to physically verify the materials of one hundred fourteen (114) water service lines located throughout the City. Addresses where the Work will be performed are provided in the Contract Documents The Contractor will perform potholing at a minimum of two (2) locations per service line and at a minimum distance of 18 inches from the curb stop. One pothole shall be excavated on each side of the curb stop to verify the pipe materials and sizes. A total of 228 excavations and associated verifications will be completed. To the extent feasible, the potholes should be located within the green belt of each service line. Pavement removal and replacement should be minimized, and any time this option is considered, the Owner shall be contacted to resolve the location. The anticipated depth of pipe is approximately 5 feet below grade but may be up to 7 feet. The Contractor should prepare for sandy soils with perched ground water. The City of Montrose reserves the right to accept any Bid, reject any or all Bids, to waive informalities, and make the award in any manner deemed in the best interest of the City.
