The Wastewater Treatment Plant has several structures nearing the etui of useful life The plant's last major rehabilitation, the expansion in 2000. was designed to last 20 years. Additionally, several components of the plant date hack to plant's original const ruction. By proactively upgrading the structures, the plant's performance and longevity will improve. Also, 100% of the Wastewater Treatment Plant s capacity, 2 million gallons per day (MCD), is already accounted for existing and upcoming developments. To prepare for future growth and meet Texas Commission an Environmental Quality (TCEC/j requirements, the City is required to expand its wastewater treatment capacity with a second, "East" Wastewater Treatment Plant on Old Granbury Rd. As of August 6, 2026, the project is currently under construction. The completion timeline has not been released.
