The Department of Public Works of the City of Leominster is seeking the services of an experienced contractor to install cement concrete sidewalks and install new granite curbing for such sidewalk construction. The successful bidder will be responsible for supplying all labor, equipment, and materials to properly perform all work as required in the specifications outlined below. The Contractor is responsible for supplying sufficient labor and equipment to properly perform all required work, including furnishing of all necessary materials (concrete, granite curbing, extra gravel burrow, welded wire mesh, etc.). All proposed sidewalk work will be walked at a site meeting with the City of Leominster DPW Engineering Department prior to the start of construction to discuss specific details, ramps, backfill material, walk connections to buildings and the location of the new sidewalk as indicated below. The work to be performed consists of the construction/installation of new cement concrete sidewalks and installation of new granite curbing, as well as demolition of existing sidewalks. See Attachment A for construction details on required sidewalk installation procedures. There shall be a minimum of 52-inch-wide clearance of new sidewalk by all structures. All areas where utility poles, hydrants, etc., are within the new sidewalk shall be reviewed with the city engineer prior to construction to confirm that the 52-inch-wide clearance can be achieved. Refer to installation requirements below. Pavement patching materials & labor needed along all curbing and sidewalk installations must be included in the bid pricing. Any damage to underground wires and/or traffic loops will be the responsibility of the contractor. One contract will be awarded to the one responsible and eligible bidder offering the lowest price for all items contained in this bid. The contract that is awarded as a result of this Invitation for Bids will be effective upon completed execution of a contract signed by both the successful bidder and the appropriate City officials. The contract will be in force until June 30, 2024, or until all work is completed, whichever should occur first. A certified check, cashier's check or bid bond in the amount of 5% of the total dollar amount of the bid must accompany each bid submission.
