Site work, new construction and renovation of a museum in Toronto, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 400,000-square-foot, two-story above grade museum; for site work for a museum; and for the renovation of a 80,000-square-foot museum.
February 26, 2026 Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming (MTCG) have awarded a fixed price contract of $1.04 billion to Ontario Science Partners to design, build, finance and maintain a new state-of-the-art Ontario Science Centre facility. The new Ontario Science Centre will be located on the mainland at Ontario Place and will include the preservation of the historic Cinesphere and Pod complex. The Ontario Science Partners team includes: Applicant Leads: John Laing Limited, Sacyr Infrastructure Canada Inc. and Amico Major Projects Inc. Design Team: Hariri Pontarini Architects & Snøhetta Construction Team: Sacyr Canada Inc, and Amico Design Build Inc. Facilities Management: Johnson Controls Canada L.P. Financial Advisor: Agentis Capital Advisors IO and MTCG selected Ontario Science Partners following extensive evaluations through an open, fair and competitive procurement process that began in May 2024. Selection criteria included evaluation of proposed design, technical submission and price to deliver the project. The entire procurement process was overseen by a third-party fairness advisor. Ontario Science Partners will begin mobilizing on site and construction is expected to start in the coming weeks (Spring 2026). A new chapter for the Ontario Science Centre is moving forward at Ontario Place, as the Province has released final designs and awarded a fixed-price $1.04 billion contract to deliver the long-planned waterfront facility. The 400,000 ft2 complex will be delivered through a design-build-finance-maintain agreement between Infrastructure Ontario and private partners Ontario Science Partners, a consortium led by Agentis Capital Advisors, Amico Infrastructures, Sacyr Construction, and John Laing Ltd. The New York office of Norway's Snøhetta is the Design Architect, partnered with Toronto's Hariri Pontarini Architects. The contract includes a 30-year maintenance term, intended to address long-term building upkeep alongside capital delivery. The new Ontario Science Centre (OSC) will support the redevelopment vision of Ontario Place to celebrate its heritage and original vision and legacy as a destination for all Ontarians to enjoy. With 200,000 square feet of newly built space and approximately 80,000 square feet of renovations, the new OSC will be a state-of-the-art facility embodying innovative science programming, design excellence and sustainability principles. The existing heritage structures, the Pods, Cinesphere and connecting bridge system, will be incorporated into the OSC programming. The new building will be located on the north end of Ontario Place (the mainland) at Lakeshore Boulevard West. The Project will be delivered using the P3 Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (Semi-Wide Equity) delivery model.
